Canoeing on the Peace River, FL

We went canoeing/kayaking Tuesday while looking for fossils. We didn't really go with a group or tour, just rented the equipment and started paddling. We had some idea what we were looking for, but we probably threw away anything important because of our ignorance. The weather was beautiful, the water peaceful and clear. Justin did very well, we did need to keep him in his wet suit (he calls it his warm suit), because he was in and out of the water more than the rest of us. As we started out every little or large branch looked like an alligator. They warn you to keep your dogs on a leash because alligator's like dogs. Obviously we kept Justin very close to us and were on the look out for alligators. We basically only saw one, right at the beginning. After that near the end the girls heard and saw something large move and make a large splash into the river!

Justin loved the bus ride to the river. After we were canoeing for awhile, he kept asking when we were going to go back to the bus.

Ab and Wen in the double kayak. The last time we did this Abbey's elbow was boken, she greatly enjoyed kayaking this time and Wendy gave her plenty of opportunity to paddle.

One of the first finds of the day...a bright yellow Camero. Justin loved riding "on the hood" of Daniel's kayak, but while purched up there he dropped his Camero overboard. Abbey was able to dive for it and save it.

Daniel and Bob sifting and looking for fossils. We kept seeing a man and an older son, the man said he sold his finds on E-bay.

A big bone of some sort or maybe just part of a tree limb. We really do think it is a bone, plus the man with the E-bay sales assured us it was one.

Leeches, different than Canada's, smaller. Should this make us feel better of them?
